Metroselskabet

Metroselskabet's main task is to deliver sustainable mobility to the capital. We build and operate the metro and light rail and work every day to attract more passengers to public transport.

In 2024, approximately 126 million people travelled on one of the four metro lines, and since its opening in 2002, there have been over 1 billion journeys on the metro.

The metro provides efficient transport 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Around 99 per cent of trains depart on time, and during rush hour there are as little as 95 seconds between departures. Customer satisfaction is 96 per cent, and we work to maintain this high level at all times.

At the same time, Metroselskabet is an experienced developer of mega projects. The latest project, the extension of the M4 to Sydhavn and Valby, opened in 2024 on time, on budget and with far more passengers than expected.

Metroselskabet is also building the Greater Copenhagen Light Rail, which will open in two stages in 2025 and 2026, adding another 28 stations to the capital region's public transport network.
