DEVELOP AND OPERATIONALISE SMART CITY EXPERIENCE & NEXT-GEN INNOVATION CENTRE (SCENIC) UNDER INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION CENTRE (ITIC)

The Mobilisation Stage of SCENIC focused on technology scouting and engagement with potential solution providers as the foundation for building a strong innovation ecosystem. During this phase, outreach activities were conducted to identify emerging smart city technologies across priority domains such as mobility, energy, safety, environment, data management, and citizen engagement.

It also provides dedicated training facilities to build local talent, a product testbed and testing hub for validating technology performance and compliance and acts as a business pitching and engagement platform where innovators and start-ups can connect with investors, city councils, and solution adopters. As a one-stop centre for the scaling and deployment of smart city solutions, SCENIC integrates knowledge sharing, solution validation, and market access under a single ecosystem.

Technology scouting involved desk research, industry consultation, and networking with start-ups, established companies, and research institutions to map out innovative solutions with high potential for deployment. The process also included evaluating global trends and benchmarking against international best practices to ensure SCENIC’s ecosystem remains competitive and future-ready.

Parallel to this, engagement sessions with potential solution providers were organised through workshops, briefing sessions, and targeted calls for participation. These engagements enabled SCENIC to assess solution maturity, business models, and alignment with municipal needs, while also providing companies with clarity on SCENIC’s objectives, testing facilities, and living lab functions.
